JULIAN KOTLER, Q.C.
Julian Kotler practices in the area of corporate and commercial law including corporate finance and in general all forms of transactional and business law. Included in his practice is a great emphasis in franchising dealing both for franchisers and franchisees. He also has extensive experience in real estate law and leasing and deals considerably in international law and commercial transactions. He was born and raised in Montréal where he obtained a Bachelors of Arts Degree at McGill University and a Law Degree, Magna Cum Laude, at the Université de Montréal. He was called to the Bar of Québec in 1959. He is currently a member of the Barreau du Québec and the Canadian Bar Association.
Julian Kotler was appointed a Queen's Counsel in 1976. He has been actively involved in the legal and general community.
He is a former treasurer of the Bar of Montréal and a former member of the Québec Bar Council. He has held extensive positions within the Bar of Québec, the Bar of Montreal and the Canadian Bar Association. He was Chairman of the Law Office Management Section of the Canadian Bar Association, Québec Section, Chairman of the Infractions Committee of the Bar of Montréal and a former member of the Disciplinary Committee of the Bar of Québec. He also lectured at the International Council of Shopping Centres on Commercial Leasing and was a member of the organizing committee of the Law Conference of that Organization in 1994, 1995 and 1996. He is past President of the Lord Reading Law Society and remains a director ex officio. He also was a lecturer for the association of Canadian franchisors. He is a past President of the Association of Commercial Lawyers International (ACL).
